This Saturday, Battell Beach’s green plains are going to be covered in the brightly colored powders of HOLI. Sponsored by MCAB, the Pan-Carribean Student Organization, and the South Asian Student Association, Holi on the beach is Middlebury’s version of the Indian festival of colors and a celebration of spring (praise the good weather!).
Here’s all you need to know about Holi: remember to wear white, be prepared to throw water balloons, and go crazy tossing bright color powders. As if things could not get any more awesome, a color capture the flag game will also be held at 3 PM.
WHEN: Saturday, 2 PM
WHERE: Battell Beach
WHY: Because a color party + 75°F weather on a sunny Saturday is going to be an excellent follow-up darty to last weekend’s Rowdy Roast.
You may know Hunter Nolan from his infamous DJ sets at countless Middlebury parties, but he is also a very talented film-maker, and has been working to bring a feature film that he helped work on to Middlebury. The film is called Syrup (click for trailer), starring Amber Heard and Shiloh Fernandez. The film was produced by 3 midd grads, and there will be a Q&A with the producers and Mr. J.Hunter after the screening.
WHERE: Dana Auditorium.
WHEN: Sunday at 7:30pm
According to the film’s website, it is:
“an edgy comedy that exposes the cut-throat world of advertising through the eyes of a young prodigy chasing fame, fortune, and the woman of his dreams… In a world where the average person sees over eight hundred ads in a single day, SYRUP takes a biting look at the insidious—and often ridiculous—side of advertising. Crackling with romance and humor, this razor-sharp satire leaves you guessing and laughing until the end.”
Sounds awesome. Don’t miss it.
Tonight is the MLK Spiritual Choir’s Spring Concert. This is Francois Clemmons’ last semester teaching at Middlebury, so this may be the last chance you get to see them. The DivaDaddy and company have worked hard to put together an inspiring and entertaining show, so come down and check it out. I guarantee that you’ve never seen so much soul on Middlebury campus, unless you came to this show last semester.
WHERE: the CFA concert hall
WHEN: Tonight, May 3, 8:00pm
